Kittens, Kali, and Announcements

We’re nearing the end of yet another tumultuous week, so that means the other denizens of the black cloud take centre stage. But before we get to them, a couple of announcements.

First, today I topped 800 subscribers! This is immensely gratifying, and I’m still in shock that so many want to read my occasional takes on current events. No matter how you subscribe, thank you so much for being here.

Second, I’m taking a break before the holidays and will be “off these means” (as we used to say in the Army) until December 19th. I’ll try to keep an eye on things and will certainly have something to pontificate about when I return.

Finally, some pet news. The kittens were spayed last week and have been recovering since. They wore pyjamas for what seemed like ages (to them) but were finally freed today. Just in time, too, for the kitten we’ve been calling Bea (the cream seal point) departed for her forever home this afternoon and a new name – Millie! She’s going to be part of a lovely family who are over-the-top excited.

This leaves the four-footed residents of the black cloud at Kali the dog, Arwen the 25-pound Maine Coon cat, Jones the 18-pound white Ragdoll, and Freyja the tabby kitten. It seems like Freyja might be the most assertive of the bunch, although in true dude-cat fashion, Jones is very chill until he loses patience with any shenanigans.

Freyja is always on alert, coming as she does from the mean streets.

Millie is a bit of a goof.
