I feel like in these times it's almost necessary to be anonymous. Just knowing there are eloquent voices putting legitimate content out eases my mind a bit.

I don't understand why there isn't more backlash, why there isn't enough or any push back from sane people.

In the spirit of the original post (whimsical), I think the real issue is which of those animals is most likely to be ghost writing this sub-stack.

Obviously #2, who is unafraid to look the camera head on.

I enjoy reading your articles (haven’t read all as yet) and agree wholeheartedly with your views so far. Because of the trolling across any available platform, I would think it within your best interest to stay anonymous. Beautiful pets!

I think it's up to you when and if you went public. Even for commenters and subscribers, it can feel like more trouble than it's worth to use their full name, even though they try to be respectful and reasonable. That's the sad reality of things.

There are lots of trolls on here too. Someone commented to me that "we can't afford to have four more years of democrat dictatorship" and one of my followers responded in Russian with the equivalent of "Do better."

Love your cat and dog. Understandable to keep identity quiet as I receive threats daily on the other cesspool app as well, though I am not impt so it is of less of a concern lol.

Don’t worry, I’m not important either! Just want to write.

No need for a reveal. I have studied Russia and Eastern Europe for decades. Am with you on Ukraine. Trump doesn’t know what he’s messing with when it comes to Putin. The “great” leader of Russia is losing on the order of 1.100 men a day? That’s not really winning. And another call up will not go over well. We will see.

Love the cats (Maine Coons?) and doggo. Thanks for sharing them.

There's a difference between "anonymous" and "pseudonymous." If you've been writing online using the same moniker for a number of years, you have a consistent identity, and a track record of publication you can point to that keeps you "honest." You're not hiding behind an ever-changing mask, you're blurring out you face and changing you voice for protection.

Stay anonymous. I come here for your expertise, and for Arwen.

I’ve always enjoyed your writing and will continue to do so, anonymous or not. No need to reveal your name. For years, I used my full name and photo on Twitter. I saw no reason not to, as I used to work as a newspaper columnist and my name and photo were attached to everything I did. However, my husband, a former infantry soldier, was aghast that I would so publicly reveal myself on Twitter. I’ve since stopped posting very much there. I think you’re wise. And you have cute pets.

Thank you. Your view on the Ukraine war is horribly misguided, including describing it as a proxy war.

I’m not exactly a war hawk. I’ve been to war and it’s not a lot of fun.
